CHESS in Memphis, USA: AIED 2013

Dr. Maria Roussou of the University of Athens delivered a plenary keynote speech titled "Users at the Center of Designing Informal Learning Experiences" at the 16th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED 2013), which took place in July in Memphis, TN. The talk, which focused on the CHESS project, was attended by an audience of ~300 researchers (computer scientists, psychologists, educators).

CHESS presented at the Adler Planetarium, Chicago

on .

On July 2, 2013, Dr. Maria Roussou of the University of Athens gave a talk about CHESS, focusing on interactivity and learning and on the Cité de l'espace, at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago (the first planetarium built in the Americas, in 1930). The presentation was attended by staff and the President of the Adler.

CHESS at the VIRTUAL ARCHAEOLOGY: Museums & Cultural Tourism Workshop

The CHESS project will be presented at the VIRTUAL ARCHAEOLOGY: Museums & Cultural Tourism Workshop, to be held in Delphi Greece, September 25-28, 2013, as part of an invited keynote speech to be delivered by Maria Roussou of the University of Athens and representatives of the Acropolis Museum.

Presentation of CHESS at the Cyprus University of Technology

130204_cyprus_mroussou_podiumOn Monday February 4, 2013, Maria Roussou of the University of Athens presented the CHESS project to a full amphitheatre of the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol, Cyprus. The talk, titled "Experiencing the Museum through digital stories for each visitor", was open to the public and attracted more than 100 attendees.

The event was publicised in national press and the Cyprus University of Technology's newsletter (page 10, in Greek).

Presentation of CHESS at the International High-Tech Heritage conference

Maria Roussou of the University of Athens gave a plenary talk focused on CHESS titled "Designing User-Centered Digital Heritage Experiences: Personalized Interaction and Storytelling" at the High-Tech Heritage: "How are digital technologies changing our views of the past?" on May 4th 2012.

The international conference was organised by the University of Massachusetts Amherst Center for Heritage and Society and held at the UMass Amherst Campus in Massachussetts USA, on May 2-4, 2012. The conference was attended by approximately 150 people from 18 countries and from a wide range of disciplines, including academics, museologists, digital technologists, heritage professionals, and community leaders, with a goal of examining the achievements, opportunities, and serious social challenges of digital heritage.

Presentation of CHESS at the CLIC France, 3rd Culture & Innovation(s) national meetings

Christophe Chaffardon of the Cité de l'Espace presented the CHESS project at the 3rd Culture & Innovation(s) national meeting organised by the Club Innovation & Culture (CLIC), on the 4th of April 2012. The event gathered 340 participants.

The CLIC France is a French network on new technologies in museums and cultural sites. It has over 30 institutional members which represent more than 140 professionnals.
